******* Thorns *******
Isaiah 34:12~They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
v13~And THORNS shall come up in her PALACES, nettles and brambles in the FORTRESSES thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.
Now, we see here where thorns are prophesied to come up into somebody’s palaces. The question is “what are the thorns; and what are the palaces?”
A study of ‘palaces’ shows that it represents these fancy church buildings. The thorns are shown to be those who use the Word of God deceitfully. They are the ones who go back to law. They are always ‘sticking’ at others; pricking; bringing in false teachings. So these thorns, or false teachers got into the churches. That is what this shows.
Jer. 4:3~For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Here he is speaking of teaching the Word of God. Sowing the seed represents preaching the Word. The fallow ground is ground which was once plowed; but not sown, then left to grow up in weeds again. This is showing those who heard the word but Satan came and took it out of their hearts. So it grew back up with worldliness.
He is telling the true ministers of God not to sow the seed or word out among those known to be ‘thorns’. We are to once again ‘plow’ up the usable field and try again to place the Word of God into this field. That is if it is not ‘thorns’.
Jesus said in Matt. 13:7~~And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
v22~He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Now see, this shows that one received the word into his heart; but he had thorns there also. This showed to be the ‘care of this world and a love for riches’. So, this choked out the word. This person had a thorny heart; the word was sown among ‘thorns’. See that he did not bear any fruit unto God. He did not receive eternal life.

Joshua 23:13~~~~ Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and THORNS in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
God said that just as surely as the good things he promised them had come to pass, so would the evil come on them and they would quickly perish from off the good land He had given them. See than, that all those heathens around them were THORNS to them.
Judges 2:2~~~And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but he have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?
3~~Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
So this shows that as they obeyed not God but made leagues with the inhabitants of the land and bowed down to their idol gods, these people and idols became THORNS AND SNARES TO THEM.
So, today the churches have taken up every idol of the heathens around them; they let in those who were covetous of money. These were their leaders. Jesus said the cares of the world and of riches were the thorns which choked out the Word. So as the churches went after riches and idols they were filled with thorns and snares.
As a SNARE shall it come on all the earth. See this is speaking of them serving idols. This takes them into eternal destruction.
All your old holidays, your fancy buildings; your big bank accounts; your paid preachers; your big numbers; all these things you lusted after have become thorns and snares to your souls.
You patterned after the world. You dress like the world around you. You serve their idols. You brought their movies and t.v.s (Satan’s pulpits) into your homes and churches. All these things snared your souls.
You scoff at being Holy; you want to be like the world around you. This is how ancient Israel made an image to the beast around them; this is how the church has made an image to the beast around them.
Hosea 10:8 ~~The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the THORN and the THISTLE shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
Now, do you see that the thorn and the thistle came up on the altars of the church = their paid preachers = heathens = took them away from the Word of God. Then, you know that the sixth seal is where they call to the mountains and hills to cover them and hide them from the wrath of the Lamb. That is where this is.
That is where the thorns and thistles took the church to = the wrath of the Lamb being poured out upon them.
