Gift of Spirit Message:
Scriptural Way of Healing
As I said, I wish for us to do a through study of the Scriptural way of healing. So I will start this by giving some of the healings done by Jesus. Later, I will go to Peter, Paul and others.
In John 4:46-54-a nobleman whose son was at the point of death, besought Jesus to come down and heal his son. v50–Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way: thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
Here all that Jesus did was tell the man to go his way; his son liveth. The man had been trying to get Jesus do come down; but when Jesus told him this, he BELIEVED the Word; and his son was healed that very same hour. See, this man BELIEVED JESUS’ WORD; and his son was healed.
In Luke 4: 33-36 a man in the synagogue had a spirit of an unclean devil. v35–Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
The devil came out and the people were amazed; for with authority and power he commanded the unclean spirits, and they obey.
Now Luke 4:38-39–Peter’s mother-in-law had a great fever; v39–and he stood over he, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
Here again all he did was speak and it was done.
v40–They brought many sick with divers diseases and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
Luke 5:18-26–Here they had let down before him a man who had palsy: Jesus said to him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
The scribes and Pharisees railed on him for this saying; but Jesus showed here that healing and forgiving of sins are in the same atonement.
Luke 5:12, 13–A man full of leprosy said Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
v13–Jesus touched him saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
See, If Jesus heals you, you are well immediately; no more lingering sickness and suffering. So, why would it not be better to receive healing this way? When Peter said, silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I you, how could one say Peter was cruel because he gave the man healing by faith instead of calling for medical help?
Luke 6:6-11 is a good one. Here Jesus was in the synagogue on the sabbath. A man was there with a withered hand. They watched to see if Jesus would heal him on the Sabbath so they could accuse him.
Jesus said to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And his hand was restored whole.
v11–And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
Yes, those law, Sabbath keepers were filled with ‘madness’ against this power to heal; and because Jesus worked on the Sabbath.
Luke 7:1-10 tells of a centurion’s servant who was sick and ready to die. The Man told Jesus to speak the work only and his servant would be healed. Jesus said he had not found this great faith in Israel. The servant was healed from that hour.
Again, he only spoke the Word. He sent His word and healed them. He can do the same for us today. He can speak the Word only and heal any and all diseases. As you faith is, so be it unto you. If you can believe all things are possible to those who can believe.
Can you believe?
Did Jesus heal everyone? No. Then who did he heal? He healed ALL THAT WERE BROUGHT TO HIM. These are the ones who had faith. Matt. 4:24
Matt. 8:26—When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
v17–That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
So, to go to doctors instead of to Jesus is to say you either do not WANT Jesus to bare your sickness or else you do not believe he can.
Matt. 12:15–But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes FOLLOWED him, and he healed them all.
Once again, this shows that the ones Jesus healed were those who came to him.
v22–Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
So here Jesus healed this man because they BROUGHT him to Jesus., showing FAITH.
There are many more Scriptures showing this; but this is enough to prove this point.
Now the question~ did Jesus just heal everyone? No.
John 5:2-17–Take the time to read this; for this is one of the many places which shows that Jesus did his work of healing and casting out devils on the Jewish Sabbath. For this they sought to KILL him. Some law keeping, eh?
But for this message, v3–In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
See, these people had their faith in being the first one to step into this water after the angel came and moved the water. They had no faith in Jesus. Did Jesus move to help them? Only one of them.
What did he do for or to the others? Not one thing. Now, was he evil for this? You decide.
Jesus healed one of those people; it was the Sabbath; and for this they sought to kill Jesus.
So, we see from this, that Jesus did not move to heal those people who had not come to him for healing, but were trusting some other means of healing. It is no different today.
Now, who did Jesus say this healing is for?
Read Mark 7:25-30—Here a Greek woman came to Jesus to ask healing of her young daughter, who had an unclean spirit. What did Jesus tell her? v27–But Jesus said unto her, Let the CHILDREN first be filled: for it is not MEET TO TAKE THE CHILDREN’S BREAD, AND TO CAST IT UNTO THE DOGS.
Now, isn’t this sort of a hard, harsh thing to say to this woman who had come to him for help? You judge.
But what was he saying? The children are God’s people. At that time, it was those Jews. But now, it is the people of Faith in Jesus.
He was telling her these spiritual things are for God’s children; not the children of the devil.
So it is today. That is why very little healing takes place; very few people have found the strait, narrow way which leads to life.
But did Jesus help her? Yes. Why?
v28–And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.
v29–And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
Now what moved Jesus? Look at the verse. First, she called him Lord; see, she had accepted him as Lord; even though she was not a Jew. Then she showed great humbleness when she acknowledged being a ‘dog’ and willing to be ‘under’ the table; and to eat just any crumb a true Child of God threw her way.
Wow!! Lord give me such faith and humbleness. Let me accept just any crumb a true Child of God throws my way.
For this, Jesus cast the devil out of her daughter without even seeing this child.
And of course we know the Centurion showed such faith that Jesus said he had not found such great faith in all Israel. Then he spoke of the children of the kingdom [the law people] being cast out into outer darkness and others being brought in; because this was not an Israelite.
Then Jesus healed this man’s servant by only a word because of the Centurion’s great faith.
So, in conclusion we find that Jesus healed those who came to him for healing. He said this was only for the ‘children’; but he showed he would give it to others who had great faith.
He did not heal everyone he found sick; those who did not turn to him for help; nor did he do anything else to get them other help. He walked away from them. Was he evil for this? You be the judge.
I wonder what is wrong here? Who do people, seemly, HATE healing by prayer [faith] alone? It seems every time I approach this subject here, that I loose some members.
I just cannot understand why would anyone hate this? It is most certainly the very best way of healing. Who would prefer all the horrors doctors put a person through? They give you mess to completely destroy your own immune system, which God so lovely gave us; then they give you all kinds of medicines which cause more things to go wrong within than you had to start with. They actually cause worse conditions than the one you had to start with. This is prove to happen hundreds of thousands of times a year.
More people die due to this tearing down of our immune system than any other thing. Yet people seem to HATE any mention of faith healing~ mighty strange to me.
I asked this community to do a through study of this matter in the Word. Who has contributed a single thing to this thread? No one else. Why? Why are people afraid of this subject?
I really think it is because in this matter, it is really proven if one has true FAITH in Jesus; or just make-believe-faith.
Why else would one prefer to go to doctors and take all their evil treatment, instead of calling for prayer from the elders of the church as told to do in the Word of God?
Many people make this same mistake of trying to say this is speaking of natural sickness and physicians. But look at the words; they themselves explain what Jesus was speaking of. Jesus knew the OT Scriptures better than anyone else. He said I do always the things which please my Father. He knew that God had pronounced death to the kings of Israel and Judah which went to doctors. Therefore Jesus would not have come here and crossed that and told the world that the sick need go to doctors. No! No.
Mark 2:17,
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
See, Jesus was speaking of the ‘sinner’ as being the ‘sick’ one; and himself as the ‘physician’; and not ‘doctor’ but a healer of the spiritual need.
I think it is very fitting that you posted this before I got back on. For after I posted my last one to Beffers, God spoke to me about the parable of the good Samaritan.
It shows the same thing as the above.
Look at the parable:
Luke 10:25-37- .
010:025 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 010:026 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 010:027 and he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. 010:028 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 010:029 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
010:030 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 010:031 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 010:032 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
010:033 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 010:034 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
010:035 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 010:036 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 010:037 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
Now let’s look at the parable. I think it is very fitting that you posted this before I got back on. For after my last post to Beffers, God spoke to me and told me this:
Notice it was a LAWYER tempting Jesus.
He asked what to do to inherit eternal life? Then Jesus pointed first to the LAW; for this man was of the law. Then Jesus said a certain man went DOWN from Jerusalem. Now Jerusalem is the seat of the law; also the whore. So this man went out from them. Then he fell into sin; typed by Jericho.
Here he fell among thieves. These are the false teachers who took away this man’s ‘covering’. So he had no salvation.
They also wounded him by teaching him lies and there they left him, half dead = no life.
Now who came by first? A PRIEST. Now the PRIEST is always associated with the LAW. See this PRIEST OR LAW could not help this man. The LAW being the STONY heart, they had no compassion on him. They had nothing to help him with.
Next came by the LEVITE, who is also associated with the LAW; FOR THEY WERE THE PRIESTS HELPERS.
They could not help.
In other words, Jesus is showing here that the LAW is helpless to take away the ‘wounds’ spiritually, which the world has.
I think it is significant that it uses a Samaritan here; for the Jews had no dealings with Samaritans. They hated them. It was a Samaritan woman to whom Jesus dealt with at the well. This shows him turning to the NT peoples.
The Samaritan represents the NT ministers. They had compassion on this man; for they had the heart of flesh.
First he bound up his wounds. How? By giving him the gospel. This took away his ‘hurt’. Then he poured in ‘OIL AND WINE’.
Rev. 6:6–…see thou hurt not the OIL AND THE WINE.
So, this is a spiritual symbol. It represents the Holy Ghost; the joy of the Lord.
This is no more of a natural ‘wound’ and ‘oil’ than we are natural 4-legged sheep. The Scripture is spiritual. Unless you can learn to interpret it spiritually, you will never see truth.
Now this good Samaritan is Jesus. He gave us a NEW COVERING— HIS SPIRIT. He gave us NEW LIFE. He gave us the HOLY GHOST = oil and wine.
But he did not stop there. He left us the NT and powerful ministers to take care of us till he returns. That is what the man leaving him at the inn represents. Jesus left and gave gifts to the ministers to take care of the sheep with.
Notice that he placed him on his own ‘beast’. The old dragon beast is the LAW. Jesus’ new ‘beast’ [our riding; resting place] is GRACE. So Jesus placed us on Grace and told Grace ministers to take care of us until Jesus returns.
His two pence he gave the keeper to care for him with were GRACE AND TRUTH.
God just gave me this; just now as I type. I have never seen this before or heard this; God is telling me this now.
Then Jesus told the lawyer to go and do likewise; in other words ~~~~GET INTO GRACE.
So, see the Word is a symbolical language. These words are spiritually discerned as is the rest of the Word. This is no more of a natural man in need than we are natural sheep or wheat or corn.
Jesus used natural things to teach spiritual things. That is what a parable is.
This oil and wine is not the type of oil we cook with; nor is the wine like people drink. So by the same token, the physician in the Word is NOT A DOCTOR.
The SICK ones here [who need the physician] is the SAME SICK ONE THE SAMARITAN HELPED. See the above Scripture said he meant SINNERS ARE THE SICK ONES. It is not a disease; it is being in sin.
I know many people use that thing to try to justify using doctors. But Jesus knew that God had pronounced DEATH on OT kings who had gone to doctors. He said it was same as saying there is no God in Israel. In other words to turn to doctors is to say there is no Jesus among us.
Jesus said I do always the things which please my Father. So he WOULD NOT HAVE COME here, knowing that God did this, and teach people that if they are sick, GO TO DOCTORS. No, not for one minute.
Jesus asked the lawyer, which of the three was neighbor unto the wounded man. He said the one who showed MERCY on him.
Those who sinned under the law were stoned to death WITHOUT MERCY. There is NO MERCY UNDER THE LAW.
So, Grace is the one who shows MERCY. See that Jesus told this LAWYER to go and do thou likewise. He told him to go become full of Grace = merciful.
The LAW has no place in a NT Christians life. It is the wound.
What a wonderful message. Thank you, My Lord Jesus.
